The funeral of Donald Trump ally and political activist Charlie Kirk is being held this weekend, more than a week after he was assassinated.
The 31-year-old conservative commentator was visiting Utah Valley University as part of his organisation’s ‘America Comeback Tour’, when he was shot in the neck in front of horrified students.
Kirk leaves behind his wife, Erika, and two small children.
His death has sparked furore around the world, with memorials and moments of silence held from Paris to Australia.
A funeral service with more than 60,000 attendees is set to take place on Sunday in Arizona, where Kirk lived with his young family. Arizona is also the home of his organisation, Turning Point USA.

One notable absence will be that of Candace Owens, who worked closely with Kirk at Turning Point USA.

Owens, a political commentator variously described as conservative and far-right, announced she would not attend the funeral because it’s being organised ‘by the feds’.
She said she has chosen to visit Kanye West instead.
Senior White House officials and members of Trump’s cabinet will also attend.
