In the MAGA environment, there’s a noticeable shift in attitudes toward Ukraine, and Donald Trump’s rhetoric has become significantly more favorable.

There’s a noticeable change in the attitude towards Ukraine among Donald Trump’s supporters, although for now, it’s primarily about new rhetoric rather than a substantial revision of Washington’s policy.
This opinion was expressed by Vadym Denysenko, head of the analytical center “Dzerkalo Tyzhdnya.”
He pointed to the visit of Laura Loomer, an influential blogger from the MAGA circles, to Ukraine as one of the indicators of this new course. In her report, she claimed that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “is attacking Jesus Christ with drones.”
“This is perhaps the best thing that could have been said for the MAGA audience,” Denysenko noted.
According to him, over the past two months, the rhetoric of Trump and his supporters regarding Ukraine has significantly improved. The US has unfrozen the supply of missiles for Patriot systems, and the American president has expressed disappointment with Russia’s unwillingness to negotiate.
At the same time, Trump has made almost no specific statements about Russia and avoids sharp criticism of Putin.
“Trump has improved his rhetoric towards Ukraine, but he says practically nothing specific about Russia,” emphasized the analyst.
Denysenko believes that last year, a significant part of the world lived under the illusion of a swift end to the war through an agreement between the US and Russia. However, this scenario failed due to Moscow’s contradictions with Washington and Beijing.
He cited the approaching elections and the battle for a majority in the Senate as another factor influencing the change in American rhetoric. According to the analyst, Ukraine remains an important issue for American voters, and pro-Russian statements could harm the Republicans’ ratings.
At the same time, the US is not prepared to directly enter the war against Russia or initiate large-scale trade confrontation with China and India.
“Therefore, a decision was made to change the rhetoric regarding the war in Ukraine,” explained Denysenko.
He described Washington’s new approach as follows: the US states that it supports Ukraine, and Kyiv is “winning the war at this stage.” At the same time, responsibility for further problems may be shifted to European partners or the Ukrainian leadership.
“We are currently seeing a change in rhetoric without a significant change in actions. Of course, one would wish for better. But this is definitely better than the confrontation that existed a little over a year ago,” concluded Denysenko.
Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with US President Donald Trump next week during his visit to the United States. The Ukrainian leader’s trip is scheduled for July 28.
