The Kremlin states there is a pause in US mediation regarding the peace process in Ukraine. At the same time, contacts are being maintained with both Moscow and Kyiv.
This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, the American side has not yet provided the Kremlin with information about the outcomes of the conversation between US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He suggested that if there were any “innovations” that Russia should be aware of, Washington would inform them.
Peskov brazenly dismissed Europe’s mediation, claiming they are “far from ready to be mediators.” The “fuhrer’s” representative even traditionally shifted blame onto the states, alleging they are concentrating “on prolonging the war, not on peace negotiations.”
“To initiate mediation efforts by setting certain conditions for Russia is illogical, incorrect, and, of course, unacceptable to us,” he impudently stated.
It should be noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy **held a conversation with Trump’s envoys** amidst Putin’s refusal to meet. Washington and Kyiv are preparing for intensified diplomatic efforts to end the war in the coming weeks.
Peace negotiations — latest news
Sources from the Israeli publication Ynet reported that the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilus III, might act as a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. US President Donald Trump has reportedly agreed to his candidacy.
At the same time, **the Kremlin has once again rejected proposals for peace.** However, Russia continues to affirm its commitment to “agreements” that the United States of America and the Russian Federation allegedly reached at the summit in Alaska in August 2025.
The Telegraph writes that **Volodymyr Putin has lost the chance for a favorable peace deal.** After all, the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Russia’s problems only increase the pressure on the Kremlin. This is why things will only get worse for Russia.
