The President’s Office reacted to the information about the US embassy leaving Kyiv after threats from the Kremlin, calling the situation “strange”.
This was stated by Dmytro Lytvyn, the President’s advisor on communications.
He suggested that it might have been related to the circumstances preceding the Russian army’s strike on the capital on the night of Sunday, May 24th.
“We heard that American diplomats left Kyiv then (before the strike on May 24th – Ed.). In any case, Ukraine is grateful to all embassies working in Kyiv,” emphasized the representative of the OP.

High Representative of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, announced the departure of the US embassy from Kyiv. Allegedly, this happened after threats of strikes from Russia.
“Yesterday, information came from Ukraine that all embassies, except for one, remained in place. All European diplomats remain. However, the Americans left,” stated the diplomat.
At the same time, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tyykhyy, stated that “the information about the departure of the US embassy is not true.”
