Finland amended its legislation to be entitled to station nuclear weapons on its territory. Thus, the state joined the “nuclear shield” of NATO countries. A statement was also made by the President of Lithuania, Nausėda, that his country intends to join the nuclear deterrence system.
Army General, former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Mykola Malomuzh, emphasized on 24 Kanal that the Baltic countries and Finland are among Russia’s priority targets within the NATO system, and therefore they are extremely sensitive to the Kremlin’s aggressive actions and its potential plans to open a second front.
The Baltic states and Finland demonstrate a position of resilience
Currently, these countries do not possess nuclear weapons, but they can initiate the possibility of deploying them on their territory to defend against the nuclear state of Russia. The former head of Ukraine’s SZR noted that there are strategic international agreements on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. However, according to him, Putin has already violated them by moving them to Belarus.
On the other hand, this same agreement clearly states that a country will not use nuclear weapons, while Russia has changed its legislation regarding their use in the event of violations of “strategic national interests.”

And this could be used not only against Ukraine but also against Finland, the Baltic states, and others. Therefore, these states are currently legally, without military-operational actions, determining that they can possess nuclear weapons within the framework of a NATO alliance agreement,
– explained Malomuzh.
He recalled that Putin, Lavrov, Peskov, and especially Medvedev, have repeatedly stated that Russia might use nuclear weapons not only against Ukraine. Therefore, Finland and Lithuania are now sending a signal to the aggressor country that they will have the capability to deploy “nukes” on their territory.
“And this brings closer the probable launches targeting both Saint Petersburg and Moscow, and Russia as a whole. It will take mere minutes. A paradigm shift in security will occur. Then Russia itself will be under threat, and it will be unable to fight on all fronts and strike the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the Baltics, Finland. Ballistic missiles, both nuclear and non-nuclear, will fly at it from these countries. This will weaken Moscow and the entire regime. That is, these legal steps are the first signal, a warning,” stated Malomuzh.
The army general concluded that no one will cut Putin any slack today. The decisive actions of Stubb, the President of Finland, and the Baltic leaders demonstrate not a position of intimidation, as the Kremlin would desire, but rather a stance of resilience and a refusal to allow aggressive actions against their countries and NATO members as a whole.
