The Strait of Hormuz continues to operate normally, and commercial vessel traffic through it even increased on June 20. Despite Iran’s statements about closing the strait, shipping is ongoing.

This was reported by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

What is happening in the Strait of Hormuz — US statement

According to official data from the American command, 55 merchant ships passed through the strait on June 20. These ships transported over 17 million barrels of oil. They also added that they continue to monitor the situation and protect the free movement of vessels in the strait.

“On June 20, 55 merchant vessels reportedly transited the strait, carrying large volumes of cargo and over 17 million barrels of oil to global markets,” stated CENTCOM.

Additionally, the Combined Maritime Information Centre issued a notice confirming safe passage for all vessels along a route that should be “free from arbitrary demands and impediments.”

The US military command emphasized that American forces remain in the region and maintain vigilance to ensure compliance with all terms of agreements with Iran.

In addition, he assured that ships carrying oil have begun to exit the Strait of Hormuz and are moving along a safe southern route.

Earlier, Donald Trump also reiterated a series of threats against Iran, “if they do not behave properly.”
