Ukrainian drones will become scouts for the US Army. They will be used in Europe and manufactured in the Czech Republic. The US has decided to order the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles “Leleka” from the Czech company “U&C UAS.”

This is reported by Defence Express.

The US will use Ukrainian drones for reconnaissance

The Czech company “U&C UAS,” which manufactures drones from the Ukrainian company Deviro, has received a contract from the US Army for the supply of Ukrainian reconnaissance drones.

They will be purchased for American operations in Europe. After the American military evaluated the Ukrainian drones during exercises, it was decided to order them for reconnaissance.

“U&C signs a contract for the supply of reconnaissance drones to the US Army in Europe. The Czech manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles announces the signing of an international contract for the supply of advanced unmanned aerial systems to US Army units stationed in Europe,” write on the manufacturer’s page.

The Ukrainian drones have demonstrated high reliability, effectiveness, and the ability to operate in conditions close to real combat. After the exercises, representatives of the US Army noted that Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles improve reconnaissance, can conduct long-term surveillance, and transmit data in real-time.

The US expects that the procurement of new drones will strengthen the defense of American military bases across the European continent.

Although the contract did not specify that it was about “Leleka” drones, Defence Express analysts noticed that the company’s catalog contains two products of a similar class originating from the Ukrainian “Leleka-100.”

It is worth noting that the Americans will purchase Ukrainian drones manufactured in the Czech Republic, as Ukraine has restrictions on the export of weapons.

The US Army adopts Ukrainian experience: latest news

We remind you that the American military has begun to adopt Ukrainian combat experience and learn to recognize different types of drones by their characteristic sounds. In particular, during the recent Project FlyTrap 5.0 exercises in Lithuania, the US Army and NATO countries focused on detecting and neutralizing inexpensive UAVs.

Although such sky listening is not yet included in the official US training program, field experience should help soldiers timely distinguish aerial threats.

The realities of the Ukrainian front became the basis for such training. Previously, Ukrainian defenders had already learned to distinguish “Shaheds” from imitation drones by ear.

Having assessed the effectiveness of Ukrainian methods for detecting and shooting down drones, the US Army Center of Military Research recommended that the US Army develop and adopt a similar approach, especially for the defense of NATO’s eastern flank.

The Commander of the US Special Operations Command, Lieutenant General Lawrence Ferguson, stated during a speech to Congress that American special forces envy the flexibility of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as Ukrainian soldiers independently modify weapons directly at the front.

In contrast, the US Army is completely dependent on contracts with large manufacturers. Due to the bureaucracy of defense enterprises, equipment cannot keep up with battlefield changes. American soldiers are strictly prohibited from repairing or improving their weapons.
