A woman has died after the moped she was riding collided with a car on Magnetic Island in north Queensland.
Emergency services were called to Horseshoe Bay just before 12pm.
A 74-year-old woman, a Canadian national, died at the scene.
The driver of the car was not physically injured.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson could not confirm whether the woman was a tourist visiting the island.
Horseshoe Bay resident Simone Wall told the ABC multiple bystanders tried to save the woman.
"Everyone, including residents, tourists and lifeguards, worked tirelessly trying to save her,"
Ms Wall said.
"They never gave up. CPR was commenced immediately and when the lifeguards arrived the defibrillator was applied.
"Our deepest condolences go to her family."
The forensic crash unit is investigating and anyone with information or dash cam footage is urged to contact police.
