The Kremlin is once again trying to shift blame for the failure of negotiations regarding Ukraine.

The US allegedly assured the Kremlin that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would fulfill the necessary conditions and take the required steps for peace in Ukraine.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Serhiy Lavrov, commenting on the “understandings” between Presidents Trump and Putin in Alaska.
After US Secretary of State Mark Rubio’s statement that no agreements were reached during the summit in Alaska last August, Lavrov had a nervous breakdown. He began looking for culprits, but traditionally not in Moscow.
The minister of the aggressor country claimed that it is necessary to “understand who specifically failed.” He reiterated the Kremlin’s narrative that the Russian Federation supposedly agreed to the “compromise proposals” of the United States. At the same time, according to him, the problem arose due to Kyiv’s position.
Lavrov presented a version that “leader” Volodymyr Putin arrived at the meeting in Alaska with proposals allegedly approved by Donald Trump, which Moscow allegedly “accepted.” At the same time, he falsely added, the agreements allegedly could not be implemented because of Ukraine.
According to Lavrov, Washington allegedly “changed its understanding” of the agreements discussed in Alaska. At the same time, he brazenly assured once again that the Kremlin remains “consistent” and will continue to implement the tasks set by Volodymyr Putin in any case.
It should be noted that these statements by Lavrov came after the US publicly rejected Russian claims about alleged agreements reached in Alaska.
Recall that after the meeting between Marco Rubio and Serhiy Lavrov in the Philippines, the Kremlin again spoke about “agreements” with the US. Instead, the American official stated that Russia’s “proposals” at the time had failed.
In addition, Lavrov once again began to speak about Russia’s alleged “peaceful intentions.” The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned the so-called “understandings” after the meeting between Volodymyr Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage.
Meanwhile, Marco Rubio stated that the US is ready to use all available diplomatic tools to bring about the end of the war. According to the Secretary of State, Washington is ready to play a constructive role in this process if a real opportunity arises to reach a peace agreement.
