US Secretary of State Marco Rubio estimates the losses of the Russian army in the war in Ukraine at 5-6 thousand killed and wounded per week.
He stated this in Manila during a conversation with media representatives, as reported by “EP”.
“That’s how bloody this war is. The Russians, I believe, are losing over 5-6 thousand soldiers a week. That’s a staggering number,” the American official commented.
Rubio noted that, according to the information he received, the war in Ukraine is unprecedented: for the first time in five wars, the number of those killed in combat exceeds the number of wounded.
At the same time, he spoke about Russia’s shelling of settlements in Ukraine. In particular, about the deaths of civilians and strikes on Kyiv.
“We have seen civilian casualties, shelling in Kyiv. We have observed a certain increase in such incidents. Of course, this war has not benefited Ukraine either. So, in my opinion, both sides should have an incentive to put an end to it,” stated the US Secretary of State.
According to him, Washington will continue to try to find a compromise to end the war.
“We are ready to take on this role if such an opportunity arises. We announced this today, and we have announced it before,” Rubio added.
