According to American sources, the Director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kash Patel, plans to visit Russia in the autumn. There is no official confirmation yet, and the plans themselves may be subject to change.

This is reported by “POLITICO”.

According to an American official and a source familiar with the situation, Kash Patel may visit Russia on October 14–15. The itinerary is expected to include Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The Federal Security Service of Russia may be the host, according to the interlocutor.

At the same time, both sources emphasized that these are preliminary plans that could be revised.

Will Patel meet with Putin?

It is currently unknown whether a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin or other high-ranking Kremlin officials will be part of the visit program. The agenda of potential negotiations is also not disclosed.

The White House redirected journalistic inquiries to the FBI, but neither the bureau nor the U.S. Department of Justice has provided official comments yet.

As noted by American media, the possible visit of the FBI Director is unusual, as relations between Washington and Moscow remain tense due to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

In parallel, discussions are underway in the U.S. Congress regarding the imposition of new sanctions against Russia.

What is known about Kash Patel?

Kash Patel previously served in the administration of Donald Trump and was repeatedly at the center of political discussions related to the investigation of possible Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The last FBI Director who, according to open data, visited Russia was Robert Mueller. His trip took place in 2013.
