On Sunday, July 12, US President Donald Trump commented on the sudden death of the influential 71-year-old Republican senator Lindsey Graham. The American leader called the politician one of the best people and senators he had ever known.
Trump wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.
Trump’s Reaction
According to Donald Trump, all details regarding the arrangements for the farewell ceremony for the distinguished politician will be announced later.
“He always worked hard and was a true American patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed,” wrote the US President.
The renowned senator passed away on the evening of Saturday, July 11, after a brief and sudden illness, and emergency services recorded cardiac arrest. According to police scanner data, paramedics were seen carrying the man out of his Capitol Hill home on a stretcher to an ambulance.
Support for Ukraine and Visit to Kyiv
Shortly before his death, the American politician visited Kyiv, where he stated Donald Trump’s greater commitment to Ukraine. According to Graham, the head of the White House was deeply impressed by the successes of Ukrainian forces on the battlefield and domestic military technologies. The senator explained that the US President loves winners and sees very well how the Ukrainian army is exerting significant pressure on Russia.
Overall, Lindsey Graham consistently remained a staunch supporter of Ukraine within Donald Trump’s team. He continued to actively support Ukrainians in the war with Russia even after the political scandal in the White House in February 2025, which caused a certain cooling of relations between the leaders of the two states. The deceased’s family has already thanked everyone for their prayers and asked for their privacy to be respected during this extremely difficult time.
